A message from Pastor Nick Buchholz

Grace, mercy, and peace be unto you from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is my great pleasure to make your acquaintance, and I am very much looking forward to getting to know you more while I serve here. I'm not a master when it comes to names so please bear with me if it takes me a few months to remember everyone's name. I will get there, but there's a lot of you and only one of me.

I'll use this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself. My name, I trust you already know, is Pastor Nick Buchholz. I grew up in Bonduel, Wisconsin, and my parents and grandma still live there. One of my fondest memories, and something that I have passed on to my children, is going to the Com Roast hosted by the Bonduel Lions Club. Regardless of whether we were in St. Louis during seminary, or at my previous call in Cleveland we made sure to go home for Com Roast each year.

My wife Samantha, "Sam" and I met in college at Concordia University Wisconsin, in Mequon, near Milwaukee. We were married in 2005 while I was attending Concordia Seminary St. Louis. We have two children Violet and Mark. Violet will tum five in February, and Mark will be three this December. Violet has been signed up for four-year-old preschool, and Mark will be starting in the three-year-old class next fall.

Sam and I are looking forward to our children getting a Lutheran education and feel blessed that we are able to find that at St. John's. I had the good pleasure of receiving a Lutheran education from preschool thru eighth grade at St.Paul's Lutheran School in Bonduel. Sam and I have started running this past year, and have a number of 5ks under our belts. I even had the opportunity to run a half marathon, that's 13 miles, this past May. We are looking forward to getting established so we can get back into a training routine. Sam has even picked out a few different races in the area that she wants to train for.

Like I said before, I'm looking forward to getting to know each of you. Hopefully this has given you at least a small picture of who I am, and I'm sure we'll get to know each other more as I settle into ministry here. I pray that we will have many opportunities to work together for the glory of God in the coming years.

God's Blessings on your Advent and Christmas!
